Prof. Quique Bassat is a pediatrician and clinical epidemiologist, and an ICREA research professor. He has spent the last 20 years conducting clinical research in Low and Middle income countries (Mozambique, Morocco, Papua New Guinea, Brazilian Amazon, Bhutan or India). He is interested in pediatric infectious diseases (and most notably life threatening infections such as malaria, meningitis or pneumonia). He is also interested in innovations of public health impact, which can solve problems in LMIC settings.

He is currently the Director General of the barcelona Institute for Global health (ISGlobal), in Spain.
