GLORIA I. GIRALDO-CALDERÓN

UNIVERSITY OF NOTRE DAME UNITED STATES

Biologist (Universidad del Valle, Colombia), with a doctoral degree in Entomology (Purdue University, USA). I have worked on many research projects and my publications can be found here, Google Scholar

Since 2012 (University of Notre Dame, USA), I have served as a VectorBase.org Scientific Liaison, and in 2019, I joined the VEuPathDB.org Outreach Team. Through these two roles, I have educated over 300 scientists in 2- to 4-day in-person workshops, as well as many more through online training. During these sessions, I have instructed worldwide participants on using VectorBase and VEuPathDB omics data sets and bioinformatics tools. I regularly present VectorBase talks, posters, and demos at scientific meetings, and respond to user inquiries at our help desk (help@vectorbase).

Additionally, I teach bioinformatics and medical entomology courses to undergraduate and master's students (Universidad Icesi, Colombia). At the hospital (Fundación Valle de Lili, FVL, Colombia), I instruct dermatology residents and infectious disease fellows in medical entomology. I occasionally serve as an external judge for graduate students' thesis proposals and doctoral preliminary examinations. More details can be found on my Linkedin profile.
